Yoga o昀昀ers a powerful
antidote to the rigours
of long-haul travel.
Upgrade Your In-Flight Routine
In-昀氀ight, simple yet powerful movements
such as shoulder rolls, spinal twists, and
ankle rotations can be carried out even while
seated, helping to release accumulated
tension and stimulate circulation. Gentle
neck stretches, where you tilt the head from
side to side or lower the chin to the chest,
can ease the tightness that builds from hours
spent sitting or looking at screens.
For those travelling aboard larger jets,
standing postures can re-energise the
body and counteract muscle fatigue.
Forward folds decompress the spine and
encourage relaxation, while lunges and
calf raises activate the lower body, keeping
blood 昀氀owing and preventing sti昀昀ness from
prolonged inactivity.
Incorporating breathwork into your in-昀氀ight
routine enhances these bene昀椀ts further.
Box breathing involves inhaling for four
counts, holding for four, exhaling for four,
and holding for four. This simple practice
sharpens focus, induces a state of calm, and
promotes relaxation. Meanwhile, alternate
nostril breathing, known as Nadi Shodhana,
is a technique famed for reducing anxiety,
resetting the nervous system, and stabilising
circadian rhythms.
Simple movements
can be a powerful tool,
even in-昀氀ight.
